![]() ![]() ![]() I don't have an iPhone but when I travel or even when I'm out and about I just move the photos to my Dropbox and then edit and share on my PC or laptop. Would a Personal Hotspot depend on having a cellular connection at the time we want to use it? Does it create a LAN through which data can be transferred directly between devices and not via the internet? (We have a MiFi device which shares an internet connection, but does not seem to allow devices to communicate directly, and I wonder whether an iPhonoe Hotspot would be similarly restricted.Ĭan such apps access cropped/edited versions of photos? If the photo had been cropped/edited is that what would be copied? The demo shows a photo being copied from iPad Camera Roll to storage attached to the FileHub. I've just watched a YouTube video demonstrating the RAVPower FileHub, which looks very versatile. This is the option I have been considering, because I know that Photo Transfer App works over our home Wi-Fi network, and I assume it would also work over a LAN in the van. Cellular data would be both too slow and too expensive for the number of photos we take. Wi-Fi is very rarely available when we are travelling. Thanks very much for all your suggestions.Ĭan Windows access the edited/cropped photos from the Wireless Stick? Or can it only see the original photos &. These apps allow you to access images resident within your iOS Camera Roll. Wireless hub and sticks come with their own iOS apps. ![]() Or purchase a wireless hotspot and share using it. Use the Personal Hotspot feature of your iPhone (assuming your cellular provider includes it) to share files with your PC. Look at Kingston Mobilelite, RAVPower FileHub, Sandisk Connect Wireless Stick, SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive, etc.Ĥ. Use a wireless hub or wireless stick/drive (creates it’s own local Wi-Fi network) to share data. Setup a local Wi-Fi network in the RV using a wireless hub and router (e.g., RAVPower Filehub Plus). Google Photos works with Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OS X, the web.ġ.If you have Wi-Fi or cellular data, you could upload images to Dropbox, Google Photos, iCloud, Amazon, etc. The stick plugs into any PC/Mac as a USB 2.0 device. I save my iPhone images (originals and edits) to a SanDisk Wireless Stick (makes own local Wi-Fi) AND to Google Photos when I have good external Wi-Fi. Or a combination or either of 2 or 3, then 1 when you have good Wi-Fi from an external source (home, motel, Starbucks or McDonalds!). So, you want to edit on the iPhone and “share”, then save to PC later? Option 1, below sounds like your solution when you have free Wi-Fi (although a large backup may take hours). Has anyone had experience of using these? Will they allow iOS devices to connect and communicate with PCs just as they do using our home router? Will they create an effective LAN without an internet connection? I see that there are cheap routers (for example, TP-LINK TL-WR802N) that can be powered via USB. I think, therefore, that I need to create a WiFi LAN within our vehicle and hope that Photo Transfer App will work over that. I could email the photos from the phone, but there so many that that would be impractical, and again would be prohibitively expensive. It also works via the internet but that would be prohibitively expensive while we are travelling. In theory it also works via Bluetooth but Apple doesn't allow non-Apple devices to communicate with iPhones via Bluetooth. I can use Photo Transfer App (installed on both the phone and the PC) to transfer the cropped and edited versions of the photos and this works fine (provided I can get the devices to connect!) over our home WiFi network. The problem is that these files are in a proprietary format and I don't know of any Windows software that can read and apply them. ![]() AAE sidecar files which contain data relating to cropping and other edits that have been applied on the phone. If I use a USB connection and Windows Explorer the original JPG photos are copied along with. I am looking for a better way of copying photos from an iPhone to a Windows PC while we are travelling in our motorhome. ![]()
